St.Amant supports over 5,000 people in Manitoba with developmental disabilities, autism and acquired brain injury. Reporting to the Supervisor, Volunteer Services, and consistent with the Mission, Values and Policies of St.Amant and the Principle Functions and Objectives Volunteer Services is to provide a range of customer service support to the Volunteer Services area. Hours of this position are subject to change and flex based on the needs of the program. Generally, the hours are Monday to Friday 9:00am to 5:00pm and/or Saturday and Sunday 9:00am to 5:00pm. For this role, a strong internet connection is required, along with experience using communication tools such as; Zoom and/or Microsoft Teams. The incumbent will need to be able to handle administrative projects and deliver high-quality work under minimum supervision.

Requirements

  • Must have been registered as a full-time student in the previous academic year and intend to return to school on a full-time basis the next academic year.
  • Must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment
  • If under the age of 16, a certificate of completion of the Workplace Preparedness course is required
  • Be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident
  • Be available to work the full duration of the placement
  • Previous experience in a volunteer role
  • Good organizational, time management and communication skills
  • Experience working with employees and the public
  • Experience in training an asset; specifically with youth
  • Experience and comfort using virtual platforms such as Zoom and Teams
  • Knowledge of PHIA in the performance of all duties
  • Previous customer service experience, specially dealing with the public
  • Work as a team member
  • Able to ensure that deadlines are met
  • Able to work independently or with the team
  • Provide attention to detail
  • Able to work with individuals with an intellectual and/or physical disability
  • A strong internet connection is required
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening, Adult Abuse Registry Check, Child Abuse Registry Check and Prior Contact Check.
  • Complete a series of Occupational Health checks. This includes the requirement to confirm immunization or immunity of specific communicable diseases.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in both official languages (French/English) would be considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome and assist volunteers
  • Provide support with scheduling
  • Maintain ongoing communication with all volunteers regarding activities, workshops, etc. and assist with recognizing milestones.
  • Assist with the organization and maintenance of volunteer files and database; including filing, data entry and follow up emails.
  • Assist in special events, such as volunteer check ins and programming
  • Assist with routine inquiries and forward calls to supervisors
  • Perform other appropriate duties, as may be assigned
