About The Position

The Minnesota Children’s Museum's mission is to spark children’s learning through play. This Box Office Visitor Assistant is responsible for providing excellent customer service to visitors at the box office, lobby, as well as in galleries and public spaces. This role also supports sales initiatives and achieves designated sales goals. The position requires availability for weekdays (occasional Mondays), every other Friday evening, every other weekend rotation (shifts scheduled between 8:30 AM - 8:30 PM), and some evening shifts throughout the month. Availability on federal holidays when the museum is open to the public is also required. The role offers between 12-20 hours of availability per week and pays $16.75 per hour. There are 2 openings for this position.

Requirements

  • One year of customer service experience.
  • Experience working or volunteering with children in an educational or recreational setting.
  • Experience using a computerized point of sales (POS) system.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with adults and children.
  • Ability to express ideas clearly and present information effectively to visitors in a crowded setting.
  • Ability to communicate with front of house staff effectively using radio.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team to make sound customer service decisions in complex situations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent customer service to all visitors while maintaining a safe environment.
  • Accurately process all types of sales using computerized ticketing system.
  • Achieve designated sales goals.
  • Ensure exhibits are ready for visitor use.
  • Support visitor operations and needs through the museum including the outdoor spaces like the terrace and backyard.
  • Support division initiatives including service, education, and sales programs.
  • Attend and participate in daily opening meetings, department meetings, trainings, and other meetings as scheduled.
