About The Position

DeVry University is seeking industry professionals to teach undergraduate and graduate students. Courses meet once or twice a week for eight weeks and blend face-to-face interaction with technology, including online discussions and assignments. Faculty facilitate student learning by teaching in accordance with University requirements, developing syllabi and lesson plans, and applying appropriate teaching techniques to achieve course and program objectives. Instructors participate in comprehensive faculty training and ongoing faculty development. The University does not guarantee a specific number of work hours or assignments; these may vary based on University needs and discretion. The instructor develops and provides an approved syllabus, prepares and updates course materials, and uses relevant online technologies and course software to make the course accessible to students. The role includes communicating clearly, setting course expectations, aligning assessments with course objectives, grading consistently and fairly, and providing timely feedback. Faculty are expected to use AI responsibly to enhance teaching and learning and to recognize and address appropriate and inappropriate student use of AI tools. A doctorate and 18 graduate credit hours in the subject taught are required. Applicants must upload unofficial graduate-level transcripts. Degrees must be from an appropriately accredited institution or an international institution determined to have equivalent accreditation. Additional state licensing or accreditation requirements may apply. Faculty need subject matter expertise, outstanding communication skills, and a commitment to professional development in instructional technology, digital literacy, and responsible AI practices. Visiting Professor pay depends on level, credit hours taught per eight-week session, and location. Pay may range from $1,500 to $2,700 per eight-week session in most states. In Arizona, California, Indiana, and Pennsylvania, pay is $22.00 or $23.50 per hour.

Requirements

Doctorate degree.
At least 18 graduate credit hours in the subject being taught.
Submit unofficial graduate-level transcripts with the application.
Degrees must be from an institution accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation, or from an international institution determined to hold equivalent accreditation.
Meet any additional applicable state licensing or accreditation requirements.
Requisite subject matter expertise.

Commitment to ongoing professional development in instructional technology, digital literacy, and responsible AI practices.

Responsibilities

Develop and provide students with an approved University syllabus that follows the local campus template and includes terminal course objectives.
Organize, prepare, regularly revise, and update course materials.
Use appropriate online technologies and course-related software, including websites, email, and online discussions, to prepare and make courses accessible.
Model effective oral and written communication that engages students, provides clarity, and supports learning.
Set clear course expectations, including terminal objectives, assignment and examination dates, and the weighting of evaluation categories.
Ensure examinations align in content and level with course terminal objectives.
Prepare and grade examinations consistently and fairly, and provide timely student feedback.
Integrate responsible AI use into teaching and learning and recognize, evaluate, and address appropriate and inappropriate student use of AI tools.
Complete other duties as assigned.
Participate in comprehensive faculty training and ongoing faculty development activities.
