Texas A&M International University (TAMIU), a member of the Texas A&M University System, is seeking a Visiting Assistant Professor of Music (Director of Bands) to begin Fall 2026. TAMIU is a Hispanic Serving Institution with over 8,000 students located in Laredo, Texas. The university focuses on advancing knowledge through research, teaching, learning, community engagement, and public service, with an emphasis on student success and research excellence. This is a 9-month faculty position. Primary duties include directing the undergraduate Symphonic Band, teaching undergraduate music courses, advising and mentoring students, and providing service to the department, college, and university. The role also involves recruiting students and actively growing and promoting the band program within the university and broader community to increase visibility, enrollment, and participation. The teaching load is 15 semester credit hours per semester (Fall, Spring). Additional duties include mentoring and advising students, attending faculty meetings, teaching other undergraduate music courses as needed, and engaging in community and professional outreach to support recruitment and enhance the visibility of the Symphonic Band and music program. This position requires face-to-face interactions through a regular schedule of attendance on campus and in the workplace. The Department of Fine and Performing Arts offers undergraduate programs in music, art, theatre, and dance, emphasizing student success, community engagement, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
