Visiting Faculty- Director of Bands & Percussion
About The Position
West Liberty University is seeking applications for a Full-time Visiting Professor of Music to serve as Director of Bands and Percussion instructor. The Department of Music & Theatre is looking for a candidate to direct the Marching Hilltoppers and Concert Band, coordinate instruments and equipment, teach applied lessons (percussion preferred), teach other courses as needed, and lead recruitment efforts for Music Education, Music Performance, and Music Technology degrees. The role also involves representing the program, department, college, and university at various events. A faculty member is expected to participate in continuous improvement in teaching, professional development, and service to the University and community.
Requirements
- Masters degree in Music required
- Experience leading collegiate Marching Band and Concert Band is required
- Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States
Nice To Haves
- Doctorate preferred
- Percussionist preferred but woodwinds and high brass candidates will also be considered
- Steel Band experience is preferred
Responsibilities
- Direct the Marching Hilltoppers and Concert Band
- Direct other ensembles as needed by the program and according to the candidate's expertise
- Coordinate instruments and equipment related to the duties of a Director of Bands
- Teach Applied Lessons (Percussion preferred, but woodwinds and high brass candidates will also be considered)
- Teach other courses as needed by the program and according to the candidate's expertise and experience
- Lead Recruitment efforts for all degrees: Music Education, Music Performance, and Music Technology
- Positively represent the program, department, college, and university at on-campus and off-campus performances and other events
