About The Position

Texas A&M International University (TAMIU), a member of the Texas A&M University System, is seeking a Visiting Assistant Professor of Computer Engineering to begin Fall 2026. TAMIU is a Hispanic Serving Institution located in Laredo, Texas, dedicated to advancing knowledge through research, teaching, community engagement, and a focus on student success and research excellence. This is a non-tenure track, 9-month appointment. The role involves teaching courses such as Microprocessor Systems, Robotics & Automation, Machine Learning, Fundamentals of A.I., Networks & Data Communication, Digital Logic Design, and introductory computer programming. The successful candidate will also mentor and advise students on Senior Design projects and undergraduate research, and participate in ABET accreditation activities, including assessment and evaluation of student outcomes. This position requires regular on-campus attendance and face-to-face interactions.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. Degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely-related discipline.
  • Applicants close to finishing a Ph.D. will be considered if their degree completion is prior to the start of the 2026-2027 academic year.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach in areas such as Microprocessor Systems, Robotics & Automation, Machine Learning, Fundamentals of A.I., Networks & Data Communication, Digital Logic Design, and introductory computer programming.
  • Ability to mentor and advise students engaged in Senior Design projects and undergraduate research activities.
  • Willingness to participate in ABET accreditation activities.

  • Credentials required to teach in those areas.

Responsibilities

  • Mentoring and advising students engaged in Senior Design projects and undergraduate research activities.
  • Participating in ABET accreditation activities such as assessment and evaluation of student outcomes.
  • Other service activities as needed by the School of Engineering.
