About The Position

Texas A&M International University (TAMIU), a member of the Texas A&M University System, is seeking a Visiting Assistant Professor of Petroleum Engineering to begin Fall 2026. TAMIU is a Hispanic Serving Institution located in Laredo, Texas, dedicated to advancing knowledge through research, teaching, community engagement, and a focus on student success and research excellence. This is a 9-month, non-tenure track appointment. The primary responsibilities include teaching courses such as Petrophysics, special topics in emerging areas, and general engineering courses. The successful candidate will also mentor and advise students on Senior Design projects and undergraduate research. Duties extend to participating in ABET accreditation activities, including assessment and evaluation of student outcomes, and other service activities for the School of Engineering. This position requires regular on-campus presence and face-to-face interaction.

Requirements

  • Hold a Ph.D. Degree in Petroleum Engineering or a closely-related discipline.
  • Applicants close to finishing a Ph.D. will be considered if their degree completion is prior to the start of the 2026-2027 academic year.
  • Demonstrate the ability to teach in areas such as Petrophysics and emerging topics in Petroleum Engineering.
  • Ability to mentor and advise students engaged in Senior Design projects and undergraduate research activities.
  • Experience with ABET accreditation activities, including assessment and evaluation of student outcomes.
