About The Position

Texas A&M International University (TAMIU), a member of the Texas A&M University System, is seeking a Visiting Assistant Professor of Computer Engineering to begin Fall 2026. TAMIU is a Hispanic Serving Institution located in Laredo, Texas. The university focuses on advancing knowledge through research, teaching, learning, community engagement, and public service, with an emphasis on student success and research excellence. This is a non-tenure track, 9-month appointment. The role involves teaching courses such as Microprocessor Systems, Robotics & Automation, Machine Learning, Fundamentals of A.I., Networks & Data Communication, Digital Logic Design, and introductory computer programming. The successful candidate will also mentor and advise students on Senior Design projects and undergraduate research. Duties include participation in ABET accreditation activities, including assessment and evaluation of student outcomes, and other service activities for the School of Engineering. This position requires regular on-campus presence and face-to-face interactions.

Requirements

• Hold a Ph.D. Degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely-related discipline.
• Applicants close to finishing a Ph.D. will be considered if their degree completion is prior to the start of the 2026-2027 academic year.
• Demonstrate the ability to teach in areas such as Microprocessor Systems, Robotics & Automation, Machine Learning, Fundamentals of A.I., Networks & Data Communication, Digital Logic Design, and introductory computer programming.
• Must be able to mentor and advise students engaged in Senior Design projects and undergraduate research activities.
• Must be able to participate in ABET accreditation activities.
• Requires face-to-face interactions through a regular schedule of attendance on campus and in the workplace.

Responsibilities
