Vice President, Retail & Omnichannel Growth

UrrlyLos Angeles, CA
$175,000 - $225,000Hybrid

About The Position

This role is for a senior retail growth leader for a confidential consumer brand group with established brands across personal care, wellness, consumer health, and adjacent consumer products. The individual will own the full retail and omnichannel business for established digitally native brands with national retail ambition. This is not a maintenance account-management role. The right person wakes up thinking about three things: how to grow existing retailers, how to improve productivity and profitability, and where the next major retail opportunity should come from. The opportunity is to report directly to the Co-Founder & CEO and own the retail and omnichannel business outside Amazon across current and future brands. The mandate is clear: Stabilize, grow, and improve performance across existing national retail accounts. Build stronger merchant relationships and retailer-specific growth plans. Identify underperformance early and lead recovery plans before line reviews or modular decisions force the issue. Drive new SKU placement, door expansion, assortment optimization, promotional effectiveness, retailer.com growth, and new business development. Create the scorecards, forecasts, operating cadence, and accountability needed to make retail a predictable growth channel. This is a high-ownership role for someone who is analytical, commercial, responsive, and comfortable operating directly with founders in an entrepreneurial environment.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of retail, commercial, account, or omnichannel growth experience, ideally in consumer packaged goods, beauty, personal care, wellness, consumer health, consumer electronics, or digitally native consumer brands.
  • Significant direct experience with Walmart and/or Target, with additional exposure to retailers such as Walgreens, Best Buy, Costco, CVS, department stores, specialty retail, or emerging channels.
  • Proven ownership of national retail accounts and new-business development.
  • Experience managing retailer P&Ls and interpreting POS, sell-through, productivity, inventory, forecasting, and promotional performance metrics.
  • A track record of launching products into national retail, expanding distribution, improving underperforming accounts, or turning retail relationships into material growth.
  • Strong understanding of retail media, retailer ecommerce, promotions, forecasting, and inventory planning.
  • Experience managing brokers, sales agencies, or external rep networks.
  • Comfort operating in an entrepreneurial environment where resources are limited, ownership matters, and speed of execution is critical.

Nice To Haves

  • Combines traditional retail discipline with a modern view of ecommerce, retail media, creator-driven demand, social commerce, and digitally native brands.
  • Can walk into stores, evaluate the shelf, understand the competitive set, and connect what is happening in-store to what the data is showing.
  • Does not wait for brokers, founders, or retailers to create the next opportunity.
  • Can challenge assumptions, communicate quickly, and bring problems forward with a plan.
  • Measures success by results: growth, profitability, productivity, placements, door expansion, better forecasts, stronger relationships, and cleaner execution.

Responsibilities

  • Own commercial performance for brick-and-mortar and retailer ecommerce accounts outside Amazon.
  • Be accountable for revenue, gross margin, contribution margin, units per store per week, sell-through, inventory productivity, promotional effectiveness, forecast accuracy, distribution, door expansion, and new item placement.
  • Translate POS, productivity, in-stock, inventory, and retailer.com data into action.
  • Build weekly and monthly retailer scorecards covering POS, UPSPW, sell-through, weeks of supply, in-stock performance, digital penetration, retailer.com conversion, promotional lift, regional and store performance, and competitive benchmarks.
  • Create recovery plans when items underperform and lead the cross-functional response.
  • Develop and execute account strategies for major retail partners such as Walmart, Target, Walgreens, Best Buy, Costco, CVS, department stores, specialty retailers, and emerging channels.
  • Drive new SKU placement, door expansion, assortment optimization, promotional calendars, retailer exclusives, merchandising opportunities, ecommerce growth, and new product launches.
  • Build senior-level merchant relationships alongside the founders and external sales representatives.
  • Treat retailer.com and physical stores as one connected business, ensuring digital demand supports store productivity.
  • Own the pipeline for new national and strategic retail accounts.
  • Proactively pursue whitespace opportunities across mass, drug, club, specialty, department store, and emerging retail channels.
  • Build retailer-specific pitches and assortment recommendations rather than presenting the same portfolio everywhere.
  • Maintain a measurable pipeline with opportunity size, stage, next action, probability, expected launch timing, and revenue potential.
  • Partner with product, finance, marketing, operations, supply chain, creative, agencies, and brokers to determine the right product, feature set, price architecture, margin, packaging, color, configuration, and promotional strategy for each retailer.
  • Translate commercial objectives into clear launch, replenishment, promotional, and inventory plans.
  • Partner with retail marketing and the broader marketing organization on retailer-specific launch and demand plans.
  • Own the commercial objective while marketing owns the demand-generation plan to achieve it.
  • Own and evaluate the network of external sales representatives and brokers supporting major retail accounts.
  • Create rep scorecards based on incremental sales, new placements, door growth, merchant access, opportunity creation, forecast quality, responsiveness, and strategic contribution.
  • Own the commercial assumptions behind initial orders, replenishment, promotions, launches, seasonal demand, rollbacks, markdowns, and inventory exposure.
  • Serve as the single accountable owner for retail execution across ecommerce, retail marketing, finance, operations, product, creative, supply chain, agencies, and brokers.
