About The Position

Zurich Canada is seeking an Assistant Vice President, HR Business Partner to act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership. This role involves translating business priorities into concrete people management strategies that support current performance and build future organizational capacity. Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Chief Human Resources Officer, Canada, you will collaborate closely with senior executives and HR Centers of Expertise to develop and implement people management strategies aligned with business priorities. You will provide strategic counsel on workforce planning, organizational design, leadership capability, talent management, organizational effectiveness, and change management, leveraging workforce data, technology, and innovative approaches to enhance business performance and improve the employee experience. This is a high-visibility role ideal for a seasoned HR leader who enjoys solving complex business issues, influencing high-level stakeholders, and contributing to shaping the future of HR at Zurich Canada. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive HR experience, including significant experience as an HR Business Partner to senior executives.
  • Bilingualism in English and French (spoken and written).
  • Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships and influence leaders through sound judgment, business acumen, and a consultative approach.
  • Experience supporting organizational design, workforce planning, organizational effectiveness, and change initiatives.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience using workforce data and business insights to influence decision-making.
  • Excellent coaching, consulting, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment, navigate ambiguity, and balance strategic thinking with concrete execution.

Nice To Haves

  • CHRP designation (or equivalent) or in progress.
  • Experience in the financial services, insurance, or another highly regulated industry.
  • Experience working in modern HR operating models and supporting organizational transformation.

  • Work with leaders to build inclusive, high-performing teams and develop future capabilities.
  • Partner with HR Centers of Expertise to deliver integrated talent solutions that support business objectives.
  • Leverage workforce data and business insights to identify trends, opportunities, and risks, and translate these into actionable recommendations.
  • Use data, judgment, and business context to influence decision-making and strengthen organizational outcomes.
  • Drive continuous improvement by simplifying processes and enhancing the employee experience.
  • Contribute to the evolution of Zurich Canada's HR operating model by finding innovative ways to increase HR's value-add.
  • Embrace emerging technologies, including AI-powered tools, to enhance decision-making, productivity, and business outcomes.
