About The Position

BluePearl Pet Hospital is hiring Veterinary Receptionists to serve as the first point of contact for clients. Receptionists help ensure each client receives attentive care and must remain calm and compassionate in emotionally difficult situations. The role includes welcoming clients, assessing arriving pets and their needs, identifying whether emergency arrivals require immediate or standard attention, directing calls and visitors, confirming appointments, and supporting clients dealing with pet loss. The position is in Skokie, with evening hours and required Saturday work.

Requirements

• Must be able to work evenings and Saturdays.
• Must possess unrestricted, current authorization to work in the United States and not require future employment-based green card sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Greet people entering the hospital with warm, professional acknowledgment, friendly eye contact, and an approachable demeanor.
• Listen compassionately and communicate clearly, slowly, and calmly with clients in person and by telephone.
• Immediately assess each arriving client's needs and the pet's general condition.
• Determine whether emergency arrivals require stat or standard emergency attention.
• Respond to non-patient calls and visitors and connect them with the appropriate team member.
• Confirm appointments in advance and provide accurate information about preparing pets for appointments.
• Offer emotional support and resource materials to grieving clients compassionately and discreetly.
• Coordinate with clients and service agencies during the handling of pet remains, ensuring the process is complete, accurate, and compassionate.
