About The Position

Memorial Veterinary Pet Care Hospital is seeking a Full-Time or Part-Time Veterinary Receptionist to join their friendly and dedicated team. This is a multi-doctor practice serving pets and their families throughout Houston, with patients of many different species. The hospital fosters a warm, family-oriented atmosphere built around a shared love of animals and a genuine desire to help the pets in the community. As a Veterinary Receptionist, you will be one of the first people clients meet and a vital part of their experience with the hospital. The role is described as more than just a front-desk position, playing a vital role in connecting clients with care, supporting the medical team, and ensuring smooth hospital operations. The position offers opportunities to work with many species, learn, build confidence, and expand knowledge of veterinary care. Veterinary experience is preferred but not required, with training provided for the right candidate who is willing to learn, connect with people, and help pets and their families.

Requirements

  • Previous veterinary reception experience preferred but not required
  • Customer service, administrative, or front-desk experience is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Welcome clients and patients with warmth, professionalism, and a friendly attitude
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients by phone, email, and in person
  • Answer incoming calls and respond to client questions
  • Monitor and respond to hospital emails
  • Schedule appointments accurately and efficiently
  • Gather information about patients' needs and determine the appropriate next steps
  • Help triage client concerns by scheduling appointments or relaying information to the medical team
  • Communicate urgent concerns promptly to veterinarians and clinical team members
  • Check clients and patients in for appointments
  • Complete the checkout process and collect payments
  • Review invoices and answer basic billing questions
  • Maintain accurate client and patient information
  • Update medical records and document client communications
  • Coordinate with veterinarians, technicians, and assistants to support an efficient workflow
  • Communicate hospital policies, appointment instructions, and veterinarian-approved information clearly
  • Help manage client expectations during busy periods
  • Protect client confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming reception area
  • Provide outstanding customer service throughout every client interaction
  • Support teammates and assist with additional administrative duties as needed
