About The Position

The Vehicle Maintenance Technician III is responsible for performing skilled diagnostic, maintenance, and repair work on a variety of gasoline and diesel-powered vehicles and equipment. This role involves inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems. The technician will also be responsible for maintaining accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and assisting in the training of lower-level technicians.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Completion of a recognized apprenticeship program in automotive or diesel technology, or equivalent experience.
  • Five (5) years of journey-level experience in the maintenance and repair of heavy-duty diesel and gasoline-powered vehicles and equipment.
  • Possession of a valid Nevada driver's license.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment physical examination.
  • Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in a shop environment, which may include exposure to noise, dust, fumes, and chemicals.
  • Must attach a current DMV report (no more than 6 months old) with proof of valid driver's license.

Nice To Haves

  • ASE certifications in relevant areas (e.g., Medium/Heavy Duty Truck, Brakes, Suspension and Steering, Electrical/Electronic Systems).
  • Experience with diagnostic software and electronic troubleshooting.
  • Experience with specialized equipment such as lifts, hydraulic systems, and air conditioning systems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform skilled diagnostic, maintenance, and repair work on gasoline and diesel-powered vehicles and equipment.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance on fleet vehicles and equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and departmental policies.
  • Assist in the training and guidance of lower-level technicians.
  • Operate a variety of tools and equipment safely and effectively.
  • Respond to emergency repair needs as required.
