Vehicle Condition Inspector

About The Position

ACV Auctions is seeking an enthusiastic, meticulous Inspector with automotive knowledge and customer service skills. Inspectors represent the company to clients, explain vehicle findings clearly, and help deliver trust, transparency, credibility, and strong customer service. Working with a Territory Manager and other Inspectors, the role involves inspecting vehicles, documenting their condition, and supporting dealer relationships and sales of services and products.

Requirements

At least 1 year of experience in the automobile field, including body, paint, and mechanical repair knowledge, with a customer service background.
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
Ability to work outside in the elements for extended periods.
Problem-solving aptitude, resourcefulness, and innovative approaches to challenges.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
Excellent communication skills and ability to understand customer needs and expectations.
Valid driver’s license and access to a validly registered and insured motor vehicle.
Knowledge of system capabilities and relevant software packages and web-based applications.
Ability to perform manual labor, including standing for extended periods, lifting 25 pounds or more, bending, and squatting.
Ability to drive both manual and automatic transmission vehicles.
Vision sufficient to identify small defects around and underneath vehicles.

Responsibilities

Support efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.
Conduct vehicle inspections at dealerships, auctions, and off-lease locations to identify damage, missing parts, and mechanical problems.
Prepare and submit vehicle-condition reports, repair or replacement cost estimates, and related documentation.
Help the sales team upsell or cross-sell services and products.
Interface regularly with dealers to support client satisfaction and build strong relationships.
Travel to dealerships and homes to inspect vehicles, write condition reports, and list vehicles for sale on the auction platform.
Take overall and damage photos, match them to vehicles, and upload them to the image server using a company-issued smartphone.
List inspected wholesale vehicles on the ACV Auctions platform for bidding and purchasing.
Sign up independent dealerships as buyers on ACV Auctions’ digital platform.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
