Vehicle Condition Inspector

About The Position

ACV Auctions is seeking an enthusiastic Inspector with automotive knowledge and a strong interest in customer service. Inspectors represent the company to clients and explain vehicle findings clearly. They are expected to be energetic and meticulous while supporting ACV Auctions’ values of Trust, Transparency, Credibility, and Customer Service. Working with a Territory Manager and a team of Inspectors, the Inspector visits dealerships, auctions, and off-lease locations to assess vehicles, document their condition, and prepare reports and cost estimates. The role also involves photographing vehicles, listing them on ACV Auctions’ bidding platform, supporting sales efforts, and developing relationships with dealers. Inspectors travel to dealerships and homes and use a company-issued smartphone and the ACV Auctions platform.

Requirements

At least 1 year of experience in the automobile field, including knowledge of body, paint, and mechanical repair, with a customer-service background.
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
Ability to work outdoors in the elements for extended periods.
Problem-solving aptitude, including resourcefulness and innovative approaches to challenges.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
Strong communication skills and ability to understand customer needs and expectations.
Valid driver’s license and use of a validly registered and insured motor vehicle.
Knowledge of system capabilities, relevant software packages, and web-based applications.
Ability to perform manual labor, including standing for extended periods, lifting 25 pounds or more, bending, and squatting.
Ability to drive manual and automatic transmissions.
Vision sufficient to identify small defects around and underneath vehicles.

Responsibilities

Actively support efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.
Partner with a Territory Manager and a team of Inspectors to inspect vehicles at dealerships, auctions, and off-lease locations for damage, missing parts, and mechanical problems.
Prepare and submit vehicle-condition reports, repair or replacement cost estimates, and related documentation.
Help the sales team upsell or cross-sell services and products.
Interface regularly with dealers to support client satisfaction and build strong relationships.
Travel to dealerships and homes to inspect vehicles, write condition reports, and list vehicles for sale on the auction platform.
Take overall and damage photos, match them to vehicles, and download them to the image server using the company-issued smartphone.
List inspected wholesale vehicles on the ACV Auctions platform for bidding and purchasing.
Sign up independent dealerships as buyers on the ACV Auctions digital platform.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
