About The Position

As a Vehicle Condition Assessor (VCA), you will accurately assess and document vehicle conditions for appraisals, helping ensure quality, transparency, and efficiency in inventory management and customer satisfaction. You will collaborate with Buyers, Senior Buyers, and Purchasing Managers, assist with lot merchandising, and support wholesale auction operations. The position involves working outdoors in varying weather conditions and following CarMax policies and professional appearance standards.

Full-time hourly or commission/incentive-eligible associates may accrue up to 48 hours of sick time per year and receive 80–200 hours of vacation per year after a 90-day waiting period, based on continuous service. They also receive eight hours of pay for each of six scheduled paid holidays and one floating holiday. Associates who work on a scheduled holiday due to business need are eligible for Holiday Premium Pay. Benefits are subject to applicable state law and the terms described in the posting.

Responsibilities

• Conduct accurate vehicle assessments and document cosmetic and mechanical conditions for appraisal analysis.
• Accurately identify vehicle options during assessments and inventory updates.
• Take high-quality images of wholesale vehicles for CarMax websites.
• Support wholesale auction preparation and operations.
• Complete vehicle secures and confirmations, verify appraisal details, and resolve discrepancies.
• Assist with inventory management, customer transfers, and lot merchandising as needed.
• Collaborate with team members and assist with onboarding new associates.
• Follow CarMax Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) requirements and maintain a clean, orderly work area.
