About The Position

As a Vehicle Condition Assessor (VCA), you assess and document vehicle conditions for appraisals, helping deliver quality, transparency, and efficiency in inventory management and customer experiences. You collaborate with Buyers, Senior Buyers, and Purchasing Managers; assist with lot merchandising; and support wholesale auction operations. The role requires attention to detail and work in a dynamic environment.

The hourly rate is $17.00–$27.20. Benefits for eligible associates include paid sick, vacation, and holiday time, subject to the terms described in the posting and applicable state law.

Responsibilities

• Conduct accurate vehicle assessments and document cosmetic and mechanical conditions for appraisal analysis.
• Ensure accurate vehicle optioning during assessments and inventory updates.
• Take high-quality images of wholesale vehicles for CarMax websites and support wholesale auction preparation and operations.
• Complete vehicle secures and confirmations, verify appraisal details, and resolve discrepancies.
• Assist with inventory management, customer transfers, and lot merchandising as needed.
• Collaborate with team members and assist with onboarding new associates.
• Follow CarMax Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) requirements and maintain a clean, orderly work area.

Benefits

• Paid sick time: eligible full-time hourly or commission/incentive associates may accrue up to 48 hours per year.
• Paid vacation time: eligible full-time hourly or commission/incentive associates may receive 80–200 hours per year after a 90-day waiting period, depending on years of continuous service.
• Paid scheduled holidays: eligible full-time hourly or commission/incentive associates receive 8 hours of pay for each of six scheduled holidays per year, plus one floating holiday.
• Holiday premium pay for eligible associates who work on a scheduled holiday due to business need.
• Full-time salaried associates receive paid time away, with no specified limit, as needed for sick time, vacation, bereavement, jury duty, holidays, and floating holidays, subject to manager approval.
