About The Position

Gordon Food Service Store, the retail division of Gordon Food Service, supplies small food service operators, families, nonprofit organizations, caterers, and others through more than 185 stores. The Van Delivery Driver supports a customer-focused retail environment by making courteous, accurate, and timely deliveries of products along a variable daily route. The driver operates a van professionally and safely, demonstrates attention to detail and safe work habits, and assists with store operations before or after completing the route. Delivery duties include locating and picking wholesale customer orders in-store, building and maintaining customer relationships, delivering products accurately and on time, and performing daily pre- and post-trip vehicle and equipment inspections. In-store support includes processing purchases at the point of sale, protecting cash, checks, and merchandise by following policies and procedures, and receiving and merchandising products. This includes product rotation and quality, end-cap and planogram execution, and organization of top stock, freezer, cooler, and backroom areas. The role is based at the Gordon Food Service Store at 34300 S Gratiot Ave, Clinton Township, Michigan. Store hours are Monday through Saturday, 7 a.m.–8 p.m., and Sunday, 9 a.m.–6 p.m. The store is closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's Day, and Easter.

Requirements

At least 18 years of age.
Unrestricted standard operator's license.
Clean driving record, with no drug or alcohol offenses in the past five years.
Successfully pass pre-employment checks, including a drug screen, criminal background check, and motor vehicle report.
Able to use a two-wheel cart with a load weighing up to 350 pounds.
Able to lift up to 70 pounds.

Nice To Haves

At least one year of previous delivery driving experience and one year in customer service or a related field are preferred.

Responsibilities

Accurately locate and pick in-store orders for wholesale customers.
Build and maintain good customer relationships.
Deliver Gordon Food Service products accurately and on time.
Operate the delivery van professionally and safely, following safe work habits.
Perform daily pre- and post-trip inspections of the vehicle and equipment.
Assist with store operations before or after completing the delivery route.
Process customer purchases accurately and efficiently through the point of sale.
Protect cash, checks, and merchandise by following security policies and procedures.
Receive and merchandise products accurately, ensuring proper rotation and product quality.
Execute end-cap and planogram requirements and organize top stock, freezer, cooler, and backroom areas.
