Utility Locator (Belle Center, OH)
About The Position
Northern Lights Locating & Inspection, Inc. is hiring an experienced Utility Locator to locate underground utilities in Belle Center, Ohio. The company has protected underground utility infrastructure since 2001 and conducts utility locating, inspection, and sewer imaging projects nationwide. This is a full-time employee position for a self-motivated professional who can work independently and manage an assigned work area with operational support. The role involves working in all weather conditions, maintaining company equipment and vehicles, communicating with excavators, property owners, and team members, and participating in an on-call rotation. Travel and overtime may be required. The listed pay range is $20.00–$30.00 per hour, and employees are paid door to door.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of utility locating experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of 811 laws and best locate practices.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to pass a drug screen.
- Willingness to work overtime and flexible schedules.
- Consistent attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to work independently and without supervision.
- Willingness to work in all weather conditions and travel.

- Experience using electronic locating equipment and multiple locating methods.

Responsibilities
- Locate underground utilities in compliance with 811 dig laws.
- Read and interpret utility maps, as-built drawings, and GIS data.
- Use electronic locating equipment and multiple locating methods.
- Mark utilities accurately with paint and flags.
- Document work in a mobile app, including photos and reports.
- Investigate and document excavation-related utility damage.
- Participate in an on-call rotation.
- Work in all weather conditions.
- Maintain company equipment and vehicles.
- Communicate effectively with excavators, property owners, and team members.
- Maintain a tobacco-free company vehicle.
- Travel for work as needed.
