About The Position

Northern Lights Locating & Inspection, Inc. is hiring an experienced Utility Locator to locate underground utilities and help protect utility infrastructure. The company has operated since 2001 and performs nationwide utility locating, inspection, and sewer imaging projects. This is a full-time employee position serving the Marysville, Ohio area. The role offers independence in an assigned work area, with operational support and modern locating technology. Locators must be self-motivated, able to work independently, and willing to work in all weather conditions, travel, and participate in an on-call rotation.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of utility locating experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of 811 laws and best locate practices.
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to pass a drug screen.
• Willingness to work in all weather conditions, overtime, and flexible schedules.
• Maintain a tobacco-free company vehicle.
• Consistent attendance and punctuality.
• Ability to work independently and without supervision.
• Willingness to travel.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working on nationwide utility locating, inspection, or sewer imaging projects.

Responsibilities

• Locate underground utilities in compliance with 811 dig laws.
• Read and interpret utility maps, as-built drawings, and GIS data.
• Use electronic locating equipment and multiple locating methods.
• Mark utilities accurately using paint and flags.
• Document work in a mobile app, including photos and reports.
• Investigate and document excavation-related utility damages.
• Participate in an on-call rotation.
• Maintain company equipment and vehicles.
• Communicate effectively with excavators, property owners, and team members.
• Work overtime and flexible schedules as needed.
