About The Position

Northern Lights Locating & Inspection, Inc. is hiring an experienced Utility Locator to locate underground utilities and help protect underground infrastructure. The company has provided utility locating, inspection, and sewer imaging services since 2001, working nationwide on critical projects. This is a full-time employee position in Warren, Ohio. The role involves independent work in an assigned territory, communication with excavators, property owners, and team members, and participation in an on-call rotation. The successful candidate must be prepared to work in all weather conditions, maintain company equipment and vehicles, and work overtime and flexible schedules as needed.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of utility locating experience is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of 811 laws and best locating practices.
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to pass a drug screen.
• Willingness to work overtime and flexible schedules.
• Willingness to work in all weather conditions.
• Maintain a tobacco-free company vehicle.
• Consistent attendance and punctuality.
• Ability to work independently and without supervision.
• Accuracy, safety awareness, and a team-oriented approach.

• Experience with nationwide utility locating, inspection, or sewer imaging projects.

Responsibilities

• Locate underground utilities in compliance with 811 dig laws.
• Read and interpret utility maps, as-built drawings, and GIS data.
• Use electronic locating equipment and multiple locating methods.
• Mark utilities accurately using paint and flags.
• Document work in a mobile app, including photos and reports.
• Investigate and document excavation-related utility damages.
• Participate in an on-call rotation.
• Maintain company equipment and vehicles.
• Communicate effectively with excavators, property owners, and team members.
