About The Position

Northern Lights Locating & Inspection, Inc. is hiring an experienced Utility Locator for its Locate Services Division in Warren, Ohio. The company has protected underground utility infrastructure since 2001 and conducts utility locating, inspection, and sewer imaging projects nationwide. This full-time employee role involves locating underground utilities in compliance with 811 dig laws, using advanced locating technology and methods, and working independently within an assigned territory. The position includes an on-call rotation and requires work in all weather conditions, occasional travel, overtime, and flexible schedules. The listed pay range is $20.00–$30.00 per hour, and employees are paid door to door.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of utility locating experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of 811 laws and best locate practices.
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to pass a drug screen.
• Willingness to work overtime and flexible schedules.
• Willingness to work in all weather conditions and travel.
• Maintain a tobacco-free company vehicle.
• Consistent attendance and punctuality.
• Ability to work independently and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Locate underground utilities in compliance with applicable 811 dig laws.
• Read and interpret utility maps, as-built drawings, and GIS data.
• Use electronic locating equipment and multiple locating methods.
• Mark utilities accurately using paint and flags.
• Document work in a mobile app, including photos and reports.
• Investigate and document excavation-related utility damages.
• Participate in an on-call rotation.
• Maintain company equipment and vehicles.
• Communicate effectively with excavators, property owners, and team members.
• Work independently in an assigned work area.
