About The Position

Northern Lights Locating & Inspection, Inc. is hiring an experienced Utility Locator for its Locate Services Division in Marysville, Ohio. The company has protected underground utility infrastructure since 2001 and works nationwide on utility locating, inspection, and sewer imaging projects. This role involves locating underground utilities in compliance with 811 dig laws, using advanced locating technology, and documenting work. The position requires independent work, travel, outdoor work in all weather conditions, equipment and vehicle care, and effective communication with excavators, property owners, and team members. The role participates in an on-call rotation and requires willingness to work overtime and flexible schedules.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of utility locating experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of 811 laws and best locate practices.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to pass a drug screen.
• Willingness to work overtime and flexible schedules.
• Willingness to work in all weather conditions.
• Consistent attendance and punctuality.
• Ability to work independently and without supervision.
• Ability to travel.

Responsibilities

• Locate underground utilities in compliance with all 811 dig laws.
• Read and interpret utility maps, as-built drawings, and GIS data.
• Use electronic locating equipment and multiple locating methods.
• Accurately mark utilities using paint and flags.
• Document work in a mobile app, including photos and reports.
• Investigate and document excavation-related utility damages.
• Participate in an on-call rotation.
• Maintain company equipment and vehicles.
• Communicate effectively with excavators, property owners, and team members.
• Maintain a tobacco-free company vehicle.
