About The Position

Inframark is seeking a Utility Locator to protect underground water, sewer, and gas utilities by accurately locating and marking infrastructure before excavation and construction. This independent, field-based role is suited to someone who is safety-focused, detail-oriented, and comfortable working outdoors. The position involves interpreting maps and work requests, documenting field findings, communicating with homeowners, contractors, and utility representatives, and operating a company vehicle. Routine and emergency locating requests may include occasional after-hours work.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Strong communication, time management, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to read maps, drawings, and GIS information.
Proficiency with tablets, mobile devices, and Microsoft Office.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Ability to walk, bend, kneel, crawl, and climb throughout the workday.
Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and on varied terrain, including construction sites, roadways, easements, and private property.

Nice To Haves

Utility locating experience.
Water/wastewater or utility operations experience.

Responsibilities

Locate and mark underground utility lines using maps, GIS data, engineering drawings, and electronic locating equipment.
Interpret job tickets, blueprints, and service requests to plan daily work.
Document completed work and report field findings.
Verify utility information and communicate updates as needed.
Operate a company vehicle safely and professionally.
Work with homeowners, contractors, and utility representatives to support safe excavation practices.
Respond to routine and emergency locating requests, including occasional after-hours work.
