About The Position

Stake Center Locating is hiring entry-level Locate Technicians to locate underground utilities, troubleshoot, and mark the ground with paint and flags to help prevent damage in the community. The company provides 100% paid on-the-job training and the basic skills and equipment needed for success. This is an outdoor field role for someone comfortable working in all weather, independently, and solving problems quickly and accurately.

The position pays $22.00 per hour. Employees receive a late-model company vehicle and fuel card for company use, and may take the vehicle home each night. The role requires a flexible schedule based on ticket and production load, including some evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays, as well as responding to emergency calls during scheduled on-call rotations.

Requirements

• At least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
• Ability to walk up to 5 miles per day, 2–3 times a week.
• Ability to carry up to 5 pounds of electronic locating equipment for extended periods; lift objects up to 25 pounds or lift more than 75 pounds with tool aids.
• Pass pre-employment background and drug screening.
• Preference for working outdoors in all weather, working independently, and solving problems quickly and accurately.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays as production needs require.

Responsibilities

• Prioritize safety while performing locating work.
• Use a laptop to receive, document, and process tickets and email.
• Read maps and interpret blueprints to determine the best method and sequence for locating utilities.
• Use provided locating equipment and technology to accurately locate underground utilities.
• Communicate effectively with peers, managers, and homeowners.
• Respond to emergency calls during scheduled on-call shift rotations.
