About The Position

The Utility Clerk performs general maintenance and cleaning duties and maintains safety and sanitation standards for members and team members. The role includes keeping club areas and outdoor grounds clean, gathering carts and flatbeds from the parking lot, ensuring carts are clean and serviceable, and returning new and unused merchandise to the sales floor. The Utility Clerk operates cleaning and material-handling equipment safely, keeps maintenance supplies organized, performs minor building repairs, and alerts management when major repairs may be needed. The role may also involve duties in other departments as assigned. Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function.

Requirements

• Successfully complete required training and certification processes.
• Be at least 18 years old to operate equipment and enter age-restricted areas.
• Be able to meet the physical and environmental demands described for the role, including frequent lifting of objects up to 50 pounds and, with assistance, moving heavier or awkward objects.
• Use a pallet jack to pull and push pallets.

Nice To Haves

• Prior maintenance or janitorial experience is preferred but not required.
• Prior retail or wholesale experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide members with prompt and courteous service and assistance.
• Maintain safety and sanitation standards for members and team members.
• Clean all areas of the club, including the sales floor, offices, restrooms, outdoor grounds, and parking lot.
• Gather and return carts and flatbeds from the parking lot to the club entrance, keep carts stocked at the entrance, and verify that carts are clean and in working order.
• Remove carts that are unsuitable for use and remove trash or debris from the parking lot, cart corrals, and exterior of the club.
• Return new and unused merchandise to the sales floor.
• Perform maintenance and cleaning duties, including mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, carpet extracting, washing glass, emptying trash receptacles, and pulling pallets.
• Maintain outdoor grounds, including cart corrals, sidewalks, and outdoor trash receptacles.
• Prioritize maintenance and cleaning responsibilities efficiently across the club.
• Operate the floor scrubber, trash compactor, and cardboard baler safely and according to established safety standards.
• Restock maintenance and cleaning supplies and keep supply areas on the receiving dock and in maintenance closets clean, neat, and organized.
• Perform minor and routine building repairs and notify management when major repairs may be required.
• Follow club policies and procedures and perform other assigned duties, including work in other departments as needed.
• Maintain regular, predictable, full attendance.
