About The Position

The Utility Clerk performs general maintenance and cleaning duties to maintain high standards of safety and sanitation for members and team members. The role includes keeping club interiors and exterior grounds clean, gathering and returning carts and flatbeds from the parking lot, and ensuring carts are clean, functional, and available at the club entrance. The clerk also returns new and unused merchandise to the sales floor, restocks cleaning supplies, performs minor building repairs, and alerts management when major repairs may be needed. The position may include duties in other departments as assigned, and regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function.

The role involves frequent movement on hard surfaces and may include bending, climbing, crawling, pulling, reaching, stooping, using ladders or step stools, and lifting objects up to 50 pounds. Moving heavier or awkward objects may require assistance. The clerk uses a pallet jack to pull and push pallets and may operate a floor scrubber, trash compactor, and cardboard baler. Work takes place indoors and outdoors, with exposure to weather, cleaning agents, occasional chemicals, and sometimes extreme temperatures in freezers and coolers.

Requirements

• Successfully complete required training and certification processes.
• Be over 18 years of age to operate equipment and enter age-restricted areas; applicants under 18 may perform parking lot cart functions.
• Meet the physical demands of the position, including frequently lifting objects up to 50 pounds and, with assistance, moving heavier or awkward objects.
• Use a pallet jack to pull and push pallets.
• Maintain regular, predictable, full attendance.

Nice To Haves

• Prior maintenance or janitorial experience is preferred but not required.
• Prior retail or wholesale experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide members with prompt and courteous service and assistance while maintaining safety and sanitation standards.
• Clean all areas of the club, including the sales floor, offices, restrooms, outdoor grounds, and parking lot.
• Gather and return carts and flatbeds from the parking lot to the club entrance; remove trash and debris from the parking lot, cart corrals, and exterior.
• Ensure carts are stocked at the entrance, clean, and in working order; remove unsuitable carts from use.
• Return new and unused merchandise to the sales floor.
• Perform maintenance and cleaning tasks, including mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, carpet extracting, washing glass, emptying trash receptacles, and pulling pallets.
• Maintain outdoor grounds, including cart corrals, sidewalks, and outdoor trash receptacles.
• Prioritize cleaning and maintenance duties efficiently across the club.
• Safely and efficiently operate floor scrubber, trash compactor, and cardboard baler machines in accordance with safety standards.
• Restock cleaning and maintenance supplies and keep supply areas on the receiving dock and in maintenance closets clean, neat, and organized.
• Perform minor and routine building repairs and notify management when major repairs may be required.
• Follow club policies and procedures and complete other assigned duties, including working in other departments as needed.
• Maintain regular, predictable, full attendance.
• Deliver service excellence, address and de-escalate member concerns, and support a safe and positive member and team-member environment.
