US Project Procurement Leader

GE Vernova•Atlanta, GA
•$149,400 - $248,900

About The Position

The US Project Procurement Leader will build, lead, and scale the project procurement capability supporting advanced nuclear power plant projects in the United States. Initially, the role will establish the operating model, sourcing approach, governance, and cross-functional execution rhythms needed for successful project delivery and program growth. Over time, it is expected to expand into broader leadership responsibility for aligning procurement execution across a portfolio of U.S. SMR projects. The leader will oversee procurement across major equipment, fabricated and machined components, engineered systems, construction-related supply and services, and other critical materials and services required for U.S. nuclear plant delivery. The role brings full project procurement requirements into a cohesive approach that supports schedule performance, controls cost, mitigates risk, and delivers the best total cost for customers. Success requires execution discipline, commercial acumen, supplier leadership, and effectiveness in a complex matrix organization. The leader will drive day-to-day project outcomes, resolve escalations, influence cross-functional teams without direct authority, and establish a procurement foundation for long-term U.S. program growth. The role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information; final offers, if applicable, are contingent on authorization from the U.S. Government. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Offers are conditioned on successful completion of a drug screen, as applicable. Shortlisted candidates may be subject to heightened security checks because the role involves a client's critical infrastructure.

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical major, business, supply chain, engineering, or finance.
  • At least 10 years of experience in procurement, sourcing, supply chain, or project purchasing leadership within complex industrial, energy, EPC, power generation, nuclear, or similarly regulated project environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead in a matrix organization and influence cross-functional teams without direct authority.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated success managing procurement execution for large, complex projects involving major engineered equipment, fabrication, machining, construction scope, or other critical industrial supply categories.
  • Strong commercial capability, including at least 5 years of experience negotiating contracts, commercial terms, supplier commitments, and execution-related agreements.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment.
  • Strong analytical and operational problem-solving skills, including using data to drive decisions, identify risks, and improve execution.
  • Executive-level communication and stakeholder management skills, including effective engagement with internal leadership, customers, suppliers, and project partners.
  • At least 5 years of experience establishing operating mechanisms, performance management tools, standard work, and scalable processes in support of execution excellence.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. sourcing and supplier execution considerations, including domestic supply base strategy, localization requirements, regulatory expectations, and project delivery considerations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead procurement execution across multiple U.S. SMR projects, ensuring supplier performance, purchasing milestones, and delivery commitments support project schedules and customer obligations.
  • Own supplier cost, schedule, and execution performance across key project procurement scopes, including major equipment, fabricated and machined components, engineered systems, and construction-related supply and services.
  • Build and implement an integrated project procurement approach that coordinates full project purchasing requirements, improves consistency, and supports best total cost for the customer.
  • Partner with project management, engineering, construction, quality, legal, finance, operations, and sourcing teams to align procurement with project priorities, technical requirements, execution milestones, and U.S. delivery needs.
  • Drive procurement planning, supplier engagement, purchase order execution, and issue resolution to ensure materials, equipment, and services arrive on time, within scope, and in line with contractual commitments.
  • Act as the senior escalation point for supplier, supply chain, commercial, and delivery issues, leading cross-functional problem solving to minimize disruption.
  • Develop and manage key performance indicators, operating rhythms, and action plans to strengthen daily management, visibility into execution risks, cost, quality, and on-time delivery.
  • Work with project teams, commodity leaders, and fulfillment leaders to gather supplier and execution data and use it to improve decisions, resolve gaps, and strengthen procurement performance.
  • Lead supplier negotiations and commercial alignment for critical project needs, including contract terms, delivery commitments, capacity, localization opportunities, and other measures that support reliable execution and customer outcomes.
  • Identify and mitigate procurement risks through structured risk management, contingency planning, lessons learned, and proactive supplier and stakeholder engagement.
  • Establish standard work, governance, and team practices that support repeatable execution, cross-project coordination, and scalable U.S. SMR project procurement.
  • Influence stakeholders across functions, regions, and projects in a matrix organization, building alignment and accountability for project and business outcomes.
