About The Position

Hydro One is the largest electricity transmission and distribution provider in Ontario, serving nearly 1.5 million customers. This role is for a 16-month co-op student position starting in Fall 2026. The student will be part of a group responsible for defining inspection and replacement strategies for Transmission Lines Assets, and managing transmission lines capital and maintenance projects and programs. This position offers professional development in understanding the Ontario Transmission Grid System, business planning for Transmission Lines, Lines maintenance activities, and acquiring software knowledge in Excel, Access, and SAP.

Requirements

  • Discipline: Electrical Engineering/Mechanical Engineering/Civil Engineering
  • Academic Level: University with minimum 2 or more years of undergraduate studies completed (preferably 3 years completed)
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft word, and Excel
  • Must be enrolled in post-secondary level studies and returning to full-time studies upon completion of the work term (exceptions made for students requiring a work term to graduate).
  • International students must have a proper work permit and a Social Insurance Number (SIN).

Responsibilities

  • Developing and updating Scopes of Work for Condition Assessment and Preventive maintenance.
  • Creating and updating maintenance plans in SAP for both Overhead lines and Underground cables.
  • Generating and releasing maintenance work orders to the service providers.
  • Managing in-year changes to maintenance programs based on service provider updates.
  • Inputting asset condition data to SAP.
  • Identifying component assessment and replacement needs.
  • Analyzing reliability data from TODS database.
  • Analyzing condition data from Asset Analytics and SAP.
  • Querying financial and work accomplishment from BI/BW.
  • Ensuring Hydro One’s maintenance programs are aligned with regulatory requirements.
  • Preparing for business planning and rate filing for both maintenance and capital drivers.
  • Preparing documentation and response to customer inquiries.
