About The Position

Hydro One is seeking a University Co-op Student for a 12-16 month term, starting Fall 2026, in Toronto. This temporary position offers an exciting opportunity to gain practical experience in transmission lines engineering. The student will be part of a group responsible for the design of high voltage transmission overhead lines and underground cable systems, conducting related engineering studies, and providing technical support. This role provides valuable professional development, including understanding the Ontario Transmission Grid System, transmission line design, capital projects, asset registry requirements, and acquiring software knowledge in Excel, Access, and SAP.

Requirements

  • Discipline: Electrical Engineering/Mechanical Engineering/Civil Engineering
  • Academic Level: University with minimum 2 or more years of undergraduate studies completed (preferably 3 years completed)
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft word, Access, Excel.
  • Working well individually as well as in a team setting.
  • Must be enrolled in post-secondary level studies and returning to full-time studies upon completion of the work term (exceptions for those requiring a work term to graduate).
  • International students must have a proper work permit and a Social Insurance Number (SIN).

Responsibilities

  • Updating, tracking and monitoring the status of Property Management Proposal (PMP) requests from the Secondary Land Use (SLU) department.
  • Updating asset registries of transmission lines components in SAP for transmission lines projects and programs.
  • Assist manager/supervisor with technical and administrative work on activities in relation to transmission lines engineering.
  • Assist transmission lines engineers with their engineering projects, tasks and studies related to transmission lines design.
