About The Position

The Universal Banker is the first point of contact for most clients visiting a Carver branch. The role combines accurate transaction processing, warm and informed client service, product education, and qualified referrals to Personal Bankers. Universal Bankers help clients feel welcomed, answer questions about basic account matters, address minor service concerns, and connect clients with banking services suited to needs beyond the transaction window. They also promote digital banking tools and contribute to branch growth by meeting individual referral goals. The role requires precise cash handling and adherence to operational, regulatory, and security procedures. Universal Bankers balance cash drawers, support vault and ATM activities, process night deposits, and escalate suspicious activity or operational exceptions. They maintain a professional teller station, work collaboratively with branch colleagues, and incorporate coaching from branch leadership. The position is based in Harlem, Manhattan, and follows branch hours, including rotating Saturdays and some evenings as business requires. Carver describes the role as an entry point to a career path that may progress to Relationship Banker, Senior Relationship Banker, and beyond. The bank offers a competitive total rewards package that includes performance-based incentive opportunity, comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage, and paid time off.
