Full-Time Universal Banker/Teller I
About The Position
The Universal Banker/Teller I creates a personalized customer relationship by understanding customer needs and providing tailored banking solutions. The role delivers accurate, efficient teller services and a welcoming customer experience while following bank policies, security requirements, and service standards. It also supports account opening and maintenance, cash drawer balancing, branch operations, and sales efforts, including customer education and referrals. The position may involve participation in community events and working at other First Mid Banking centers.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office and computer applications.
- Complete required compliance and First Mid training curriculum.
Nice To Haves
- At least one year of customer service and cash handling experience and/or previous experience working in a financial institution.
- Previous sales experience.
- Spanish/English bilingual ability.
Responsibilities
- Provide timely resolution to customer needs and promote overall customer satisfaction.
- Welcome customers and follow company service standards.
- Process transactions accurately and efficiently within policy guidelines, including deposits, withdrawals, payments, check cashing, and cashier’s checks.
- Seek manager assistance for suspicious transactions and approval for transactions outside authorized limits.
- Follow bank compliance, security, and operational policies and procedures.
- Maintain and balance a cash drawer and assist with daily branch operations.
- Open checking, savings, safe deposit box, and basic business-related accounts.
- Make changes to existing customer accounts as requested.
- Identify and communicate process improvements to branch management.
- Allow safe deposit box holders entry, if applicable.
- Maintain professional appearance and conduct, and protect customer confidentiality.
- Participate in bank promotions, external community events, and promotional activities as applicable.
- Work at other First Mid Banking centers when required.
- Complete other assigned duties.
- Develop and maintain relationships with business partners and customers.
- Educate and encourage customers to use ATM, debit card, online, and mobile banking services.
- Maintain knowledge of banking products through training, branch meetings, and corporate communications.
- Identify cross-selling opportunities and refer customers to appropriate business lines.
- Consistently meet or exceed established position goals.
- Complete required compliance and First Mid training to become proficient in basic account opening.
