About The Position

The Universal Banker/Teller I provides customer service and banking transactions at First Mid. The role focuses on creating personalized relationships, understanding customer needs, and offering customized solutions throughout customers’ stages of life. The position also supports account opening and maintenance, branch operations, customer education, and sales referrals.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and computer applications.
• Successfully complete required compliance training and First Mid training curriculum to become proficient in the basic account-opening process.

Nice To Haves

• At least one year of customer service and cash-handling experience and/or previous experience working in a financial institution.
• Previous sales experience.

Responsibilities

• Create a quality service experience by resolving customer needs promptly and supporting overall customer satisfaction.
• Follow company service standards, including greeting customers and making them feel welcome.
• Process customer transactions accurately and efficiently within policy guidelines, including deposits, withdrawals, payments, check cashing, and cashier’s checks.
• Seek manager assistance for suspicious transactions and management approval for transactions outside authorized limits.
• Follow bank compliance, security, and operational policies and procedures.
• Maintain and balance a cash drawer and assist with daily branch operations.
• Open checking, savings, safe deposit box, basic business-related, and other accounts.
• Make changes to existing accounts as requested by customers.
• Identify process improvements that could enhance customer experience and communicate ideas to branch management.
• Allow entry of safe deposit box holders, if applicable.
• Maintain professional appearance and conduct, and protect customer confidentiality.
• Participate in bank promotions, community events, and other promotional activities as needed.
• Work at other First Mid Banking centers as required.
• Complete other assigned duties.
• Develop and maintain relationships with business partners and customers.
• Educate and encourage customers to use ATM, debit card, online, and mobile banking services.
• Maintain knowledge of banking products through training, branch meetings, and corporate communications.
• Identify cross-selling opportunities and refer customers to appropriate business lines.
• Consistently meet or exceed established position goals.
