About the position
GiveDirectly is seeking a US Programs Director who will be responsible for executing high-quality, compliant programs and overseeing organizational operations in the US. The ideal candidate should have experience in risk management, compliance, hiring, and program management. They will work closely with the US Country Director to inform program design and meet project deliverables. This role requires strong leadership skills, the ability to build and manage a high-performing team, and a commitment to operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Create robust systems to support projects, programs, and funding sources
- Set and maintain standards for operational excellence
- Identify and evaluate strategic and operational risks across programs
- Execute strategies to mitigate risk
- Provide analytical support and assistance in clearing hurdles and bottlenecks to execution
- Coordinate with global programs for internal program management
- Understand legal and regulatory context for compliance
- Oversee procurement and ensure compliance
- Track and manage country-level risk framework
- Work with Country Director, Senior Managers, partnerships team, and global Finance to set goals, develop budgets, and create workplans
- Review project BvAs and be accountable for program BvAs
- Manage live work plans and country budgets
- Manage all aspects of US office management, including procurement and registration
- Provide oversight over the human resources manager
- Directly manage US Senior Managers and lead the larger US team
- Represent the US team internally with executive management
- Build a strong team culture rooted in GD's values
- Cultivate and grow exceptional talent
- Plan and cost current and future country organograms
- Engage with global teams on coordination and alignment
- Leverage barometer for effective TeamNext action planning
- Coordinate with Internal Audit, Compliance, Finance, and Programs verticals
- Identify and justify any additional US operations support needed
Requirements
- Experience in compliance, hiring, and people and program management
- Strong operational excellence and risk management skills
- Ability to build and manage high-performing teams
- Knowledge of legal and regulatory context, including registration, labor law, tax compliance, and data protection
- Experience in procurement and ensuring compliance
- Budgeting and planning skills, including setting goals/targets, developing budgets, and creating workplans
- Office management experience, including procurement and lease renewal
- Team management and coordination skills, including managing senior managers and leading a larger team
