About the position
The Senior Finance Business Partner is responsible for overseeing the financial management of programs and back office matters for the Mozambique Country Office at GiveDirectly. They will deliver accurate financial reports, track financial operations, and ensure proper usage of funds. The role involves translating finance information to the country leadership team, assessing finance needs and constraints of various teams, and working closely with the programs team to assess finance controls. The Senior Finance Business Partner will also be responsible for stakeholder management, risk and compliance tracking, and delivering the Finance Service Level Agreement.
Responsibilities
- Deliver accurate and insightful financial information to the management team
- Review program level Income Statements and Balance sheets with variance explanation and reconciliation
- Understand and analyze raw finance data at both granular and strategic levels
- Collaborate between teams, both internally within Finance and externally with non-finance colleagues
- Promote a strong, professional relationship with stakeholders including program teams, regulatory bodies, and the Finance Team
- Work closely with the accounting team to deliver accurate and timely financial reports
- Support the Fundraising team in developing budgets and reporting for institutional fundraising
- Ensure funds expended are compliant with donor requirements, regulations, and organizational policies
- Implement payment and procurement protocols and ensure proper documentation and adherence to controls
- Submit statutory payments to authorities on time and maintain proper filing
- Understand and implement compliance requirements from tax regulators and donors
- Monitor procurement and expenditures, including spot checks and reconciliation
- Identify and mitigate financial and compliance risks
- Organize and maintain financial records for audits and routine control visits
- Manage in-country audits and special reporting to donors and regulatory bodies
- Manage the contract budget, track project spending, and prepare financial reports for donors
- Implement and track risk and controls dashboard and drive risk mitigation procedures
- Ensure compliance with finance policies and procedures
- Spot check bank account transactions and vet for irregularities
- Ensure controls to mitigate fraud are effective and escalate irregularities to the Country Director
- Support investigation of financial fraud in collaboration with risk and compliance and internal audit teams
- Contribute to drafting and updating finance-related policies for the country office
- Implement the Finance Service Level Agreement by liaising with treasury, payments, and accounting functions for smooth delivery
Requirements
- Strong financial management skills
