Underwriting Support Specialist
About The Position
The Underwriting Support Specialist assists in evaluating clients’ eligibility for insurance and supports policyholders, Farm Bureau Insurance agents, and their staff. The role processes routine underwriting transactions, compiles and maintains information needed for underwriting actions and decisions, and reviews and manages claim memos, activities, and reports to support the underwriting review process. The specialist maintains product and technical knowledge of coverage forms and endorsements for risk evaluation. They review documentation and request additional documentation when necessary, analyze and complete activities within their authority, and identify and assign risks requiring underwriter evaluation and approval according to guidelines, procedures, and service standards.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- AINS, API, or AU designation, or completion of one within two years of hire.
Nice To Haves
- Associate’s degree.
- At least two years of experience in an insurance environment.
- Insurance rating experience.
Responsibilities
- Assist in evaluating clients’ eligibility for insurance.
- Retain knowledge of acceptance and rejection rules and guidelines, pricing, classification, and hazard recognition.
- Provide service to policyholders, Farm Bureau Insurance agents, and their staff.
- Process routine underwriting transactions and assist with day-to-day activities.
- Compile and maintain information needed for underwriting actions or decisions.
- Review and manage claim memos, activities, and reports to assist in the underwriting review process.
- Acquire and maintain product and technical knowledge of coverage forms and endorsements for risk evaluation.
- Review documentation and request documentation when necessary.
- Analyze and complete activities within authority limits.
- Identify risks requiring underwriter evaluation and approval, and assign risks according to guidelines, procedures, and service standards.
