About The Position

This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position responsible for the security and safety of the shipyard premises. The guard monitors the front gate and other access points, patrols the shipyard, investigates suspicious activity and disturbances, reports security breaches to designated law enforcement agents, maintains a visible presence to deter illegal or inappropriate actions, and informs personnel and visitors of security procedures. The scheduled hours are Monday through Friday, 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Overtime and weekend work may be required based on business needs. Pay is $18.00 per hour plus a $2.00 evening shift differential.

Requirements

Possess a Maryland Security Guard Card.
Be able to perform the physical movements required for the position, including using upper and lower extremities.
Be able to work outside in heat, cold, and inclement weather.
Be able to crawl, kneel, crouch, climb, and bend around and under equipment; use ladders up to 24 feet; work at heights up to 70 feet; use stairs, scaffolds, small accesses, hatches, and manholes; and enter tanks and confined spaces.
Occasionally lift or move up to 75 pounds.
Be able to work over bodies of water.
Have normal visual acuity and hearing, the ability to understand and follow directions, and hand-eye coordination.

Responsibilities

Manage the security and safety of the shipyard premises.
Monitor the front gate and access points around the shipyard.
Patrol shipyard buildings, grounds, and perimeters by golf cart or on foot.
Investigate suspicious activities and disturbances.
Immediately report security breaches to designated law enforcement agents.
Maintain a high-visibility presence to prevent illegal or inappropriate actions.
Inform personnel and visitors of security procedures.
