About The Position

This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position responsible for managing the security and safety of the shipyard premises and monitoring the front gate and other access points. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.; overtime and weekend work may be required based on business needs. The role requires a Maryland Security Guard Card. The guard patrols shipyard buildings, grounds, and perimeters by golf cart or on foot, investigates suspicious activities and disturbances, reports security breaches to designated law enforcement agents, maintains a visible presence to deter illegal or inappropriate actions, and informs personnel and visitors about security procedures. The work involves outdoor conditions, varied physical movements, and exposure to weather and other listed hazards.

Requirements

Maryland Security Guard Card required.
Ability to perform all types of physical movement needed to carry out the essential functions.
Ability to use upper and lower extremities.
Ability to work outside in heat, inclement weather, and cold.
Ability to crawl, kneel, crouch, climb, and bend around and under equipment; use ladders up to 24 feet and work at heights up to 70 feet; use stairs and scaffolds; move through small accesses, hatches, and manholes; enter tanks and confined spaces; and perform these activities throughout much of the work shift.
Occasionally lift or move up to 75 pounds.
Ability to work over bodies of water.
Normal visual acuity and hearing level; ability to understand and follow directions; hand-eye coordination.

Responsibilities

Manage the security and safety of the shipyard premises.
Monitor the front gate and access points around the shipyard.
Patrol buildings, grounds, and perimeters by golf cart or on foot.
Investigate suspicious activities and disturbances.
Immediately report security breaches to designated law enforcement agents.
Maintain a high-visibility presence to prevent illegal or inappropriate actions.
Inform personnel and visitors of security procedures.
