Turbine Aero-Thermal Systems Intern (Summer 2027) (Onsite)

RTX•East Hartford, CT
•$37,000 - $82,000•Onsite

About The Position

The Turbine Aero-Thermal Systems Intern will join Pratt & Whitney’s Aerothermal group and contribute to the analysis and development of turbine systems. Working alongside senior engineers, the intern will gain hands-on experience in aerothermal engineering and support work that impacts turbine-system performance and efficiency. The role includes assessing cooling and sealing effectiveness in internal air systems, conducting thermal analyses of rotating and static hardware, and using computational fluid dynamics to evaluate turbine performance. The intern will also support project documentation and presentations, assist with design trade studies, analyze test data, and collaborate with engineers on fluid-dynamics and heat-transfer challenges. The internship is onsite in East Hartford, Connecticut. U.S. citizenship is required because only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under the program or contract. No security clearance is required.

Requirements

  • Be pursuing a bachelor's or advanced degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related engineering field.
  • Remain actively enrolled through the completion of the internship session.
  • Have completed at least 30 credits before the internship start date.
  • Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
  • Be a U.S. citizen; the posting states that only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under the program or contract.
