Aero Thermal Fluids Intern (Summer 2027) (Onsite)

RTX•East Hartford, CT
•Onsite

About The Position

The Aero Thermal Fluids Intern will support design analysis for lubrication systems in aero-engines used in commercial and military applications. Working alongside engineers and subject-matter experts, the intern will assess component and system design, performance, and durability, and learn how multiphysics phenomena affect jet-engine systems. The role includes conducting computational fluid dynamics (CFD) or heat-transfer analysis, evaluating two-phase flow systems, writing small analysis codes, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to validate results. The intern will document findings and present results to stakeholders while contributing to advances in lubrication system design. Pratt & Whitney’s engineering internship program provides challenging and impactful projects intended to develop an understanding of the aerospace industry, the company, and its operations. This is an onsite, U.S.-based summer 2027 internship in East Hartford, Connecticut. U.S. citizenship is required because only U.S. citizens may access information under the program or contract. No security clearance is required.

Requirements

  • Must be pursuing a bachelor's or advanced degree in Aerospace Engineering or Mechanical Engineering and remain actively enrolled through completion of the internship.
  • Experience in fluid mechanics and heat transfer through coursework or projects.
  • Experience in computational fluid dynamics (CFD), heat transfer, or system analysis for flow and energy-transfer systems.
  • Experience writing analysis code using Python or an equivalent tool.
