About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL Truck Driver in Dayton, Ohio. This is a solo, local route delivering auto parts in Indiana, Ohio, and Kentucky, with drivers home daily. The work is no-touch freight using a day-cab tractor and a 53-foot dry van. Strong backing skills are required. Drivers must be open to an AM or PM start time due to a bid system. The schedule is Monday through Friday or Tuesday through Saturday. Drivers earn at least $1,355 per week, paid weekly. The position offers a $2,000 shutdown bonus during the first year and a safety bonus of up to $250 per quarter, if applicable. Ryder provides company-paid scale bypass, well-maintained trucks that are 36 months old or newer, 24/7 roadside maintenance, and fueling at more than 800 nationwide maintenance locations. The role requires compliance with applicable laws and regulations, attention to safety, and accurate recordkeeping. Drivers may load or unload freight, or assist with those tasks, if required by the customer, and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Be at least 21 years of age.
Pass a Ryder drug test.
Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years.
Pass a DOT physical.
Pass a Ryder road test.
Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
Have Class A verifiable experience in a tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months within the past 3 years, or 2 years within the last 5 years, or 5 years within the last 10 years.
Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.
Have strong backing skills.
Some positions may require additional screening, such as employment and education verification, a motor vehicle records check, a road test, and/or customer badging or background requirements.

Responsibilities

Ensure compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards.
Maintain accurate records and logs.
Load or unload freight, or assist with loading or unloading, if required by the customer.
Perform other duties as assigned.
