About The Position

This position involves delivering food, supplies, materials, and equipment, as well as hauling trash, furniture, and construction materials in a timely manner to specified locations. The role requires loading trucks or vans based on route delivery records, operating power machinery like forklifts and power pallet jacks, and verifying inventory against delivery records. The Truck Driver will also maintain records such as mileage logs, delivery records, and maintenance requests. The job requires performing physical activities that involve considerable use of arms, legs, and full body movement, including climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.

Requirements

  • Must have 4 years of experience operating motorized vehicles.
  • Must possess a valid Ohio Class B Commercial Driver's License (C.D.L.) at time of examination.
  • Must be able to lift and maneuver supplies and material in excess of 100 pounds.
  • Must possess manual dexterity and stamina.
  • Able to stand, bend, reach, stack and carry items.
  • Must be able to work in various environments such as warehouse, refrigerated/frozen areas, and outdoors.
  • Able to operate power machinery and computerized equipment.
  • Must be insurable by the Board of Education's insurance carrier (disqualifying factors: DUI, more than 6 points on driving record in the past 3 years, etc.).
  • Must pass an annual Ohio Department of Education physical.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or have the legal right to work in the United States at time of application.
  • Must be able to pass the Federal and State Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation report in accordance with Section 3301-83-06 of the Ohio Administrative Code.

  • Current employment with Dayton Public Schools must be indicated on your application in order to receive promotional credit.
  • Applicants appearing on the Promotional eligible list shall be considered for appointment prior to those on the Open Competitive list.
  • Open Competitive applicants who have had military service will receive an additional credit of 20% if a passing grade is attained. To obtain credit, a NON-RETURNABLE copy of the DD214 OR Certificate of Service (INDICATING Honorable Discharge) must be UPLOADED to your application or PRESENTED at time of examination.
