About The Position

Ryder is hiring a local Class B CDL Truck Driver in Bensalem, Pennsylvania. The driver delivers freight solo to locations in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York (excluding boroughs), and returns home daily. The vehicle is a straight truck with a 28-foot straight-truck trailer; freight work involves load securement only for steel. Trucks are described as well-maintained and 36 months old or newer, with 24/7 roadside maintenance and fueling available at more than 800 nationwide maintenance locations.

The schedule is Monday through Friday, with no weekends. Dispatch starts between 4 a.m. and 6 a.m. The position lists 50 or more hours per week and paid training. Pay is weekly, with an average of $1,450 per week; solo mileage pay is up to $0.40 per mile, with 1,000 miles per week, and solo stop pay is $30 per stop, with 30–40 stops per week.

Requirements

• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Pass a Ryder drug test.
• Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years.
• Pass a DOT physical.
• Pass a Ryder road test.
• Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
• Have verifiable Class A or Class B experience in a tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle meeting one of these thresholds: 9 months within the past 3 years, 2 years within the last 5 years, or 5 years within the last 10 years.
• Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
• Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.
• Some assignments may require additional screening, which may include employment and education verification, motor vehicle records checks, a road test, or customer badging or background requirements.

Responsibilities

• Deliver freight solo to locations in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York, excluding boroughs.
• Comply with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
• Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards.
• Maintain accurate records and logs.
• Load and unload freight, or assist with loading and unloading if required by the customer.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
