About The Position

The Truck Driver moves product and materials in a safe and timely manner to their proper destination in an exemplary manner according to the company quality policies. This role involves transporting product to the Distribution Center, between P&C buildings, or to outside vendors. The driver will also examine, pack, weigh, label, and check material and quantities against bills of lading or printed request forms before shipping or receiving products, and verify that outgoing/incoming product leaves and arrives in good condition. Additionally, the role includes loading and unloading Pridgeon & Clay's and Outside Supplier's trucks as needed and verifying all paperwork to actual load, routing incoming product to the proper department, and verifying that move tags match box descriptions and shipping labels. The driver is responsible for all shipping paperwork, inspecting the vehicle daily, operating and maintaining department hilo(s), performing steel receiving and delivery, implementing the best method of shipment, maintaining accuracy of record books, adhering to shipping regulations, entering shipping and receiving data into QAD, shipping via UPS, Fed Ex, or truck line, and maintaining the FIFO system on all outgoing product. The position also requires effective communication with co-workers and management, providing accurate and timely feedback, maintaining consistent attendance, organizing and maintaining personal work area efficiency, adhering to company policies and safety regulations, accepting instructions positively, treating co-workers with dignity and respect, following all safety procedures, identifying potential safety issues, and exhibiting positive role model attributes. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • CDL-A
  • Three years of city truck driving experience
  • Minimum of three months shipping - receiving clerk experience
  • Ability to pass a P&C road test
  • P&C hilo license (or the ability to pass both written and practical tests to obtain one)
  • Ability to pass a DOT physical
  • Computer literacy is required
  • Excellent driving and work record, including attendance.

Responsibilities

  • Transport product to the Distribution Center, between P&C buildings, or to outside vendors.
  • Examine, pack, weigh, label, and check material and quantities against bills of lading or printed request forms before shipping or receiving products, and verify that outgoing/incoming product leaves and arrives in good condition.
  • Load and unload Pridgeon & Clay's and Outside Supplier's trucks as needed and verify all paperwork to actual load.
  • Route incoming product to proper department.
  • Verify that move tag matches box description and shipping label, and verify the move tag process has been followed in the proper manner for shipping.
  • Be responsible for all shipping paperwork from the Distribution Center or from outside vendors.
  • Inspect vehicle daily and complete driver's inspection reports.
  • Operate and maintain department hilo(s), completing daily check list.
  • Perform steel receiving as needed, and deliver steel to the proper location within the facility.
  • Implement the best method of shipment for any materials being shipped from the main facility, as well as maintain the accuracy of record books and adhere to any shipping regulations or requirements of those companies used to ship material.
  • Enter all shipping and receiving data into QAD.
  • Ship via UPS, Fed Ex, or truck line.
  • Maintain FIFO system on all outgoing product.
  • Create and receive shipping manifests.
  • Effectively communicate with co-workers and management personnel to enhance teamwork and communication initiatives.
  • Provide necessary, accurate, and timely feedback of all pertinent information to co-workers and management.
  • Consistently exhibit appropriate attendance habits, working the hours necessary to perform the job.
  • Organize and maintain efficiency of personal work area.
  • Consistently adhere to, and support, company policies and procedures, including ISO, IATF 16949, and safety regulations.
