About The Position

A successful Switcher safely and promptly moves trailers from dock to dock within the facility in a fast-paced setting. The role also supports dock and other labor teams throughout the division as needed. This position does not supervise or directly manage a team.

The position is primarily outdoors, though work between locations and inside an office for administrative duties may be required. Office duties may involve computers and standard office equipment. The role requires working in outdoor elements, including dust and allergens, and occasionally on scaffolding. Regular duties require standing, sitting, squatting, bending, reaching, and twisting for extended periods, as well as consistently lifting up to 30 pounds unassisted. The employee must be able to operate necessary departmental and facility machinery, including appropriate switcher trucks, and read, write, and understand English.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of experience driving a switcher or OTR trailer.
• An active driver's license that allows the employee to drive in the given state.
• Ability to read, write, and understand English.
• Ability to operate necessary machinery, including appropriate switcher trucks.
• Ability to consistently lift up to 30 pounds unassisted.
• Ability to stand, sit, squat, bend, reach, and twist regularly for extended periods.
• Ability to work outdoors in all elements, including dust and allergens, and occasionally on scaffolding.
• Detail-oriented, accurate, reliable, able to multitask, and a team player.

Responsibilities

• Drive 18-wheelers from dock to dock within the facilities.
• Ensure a safe work environment.
• Communicate with dock crews, drivers, and other switchers throughout the facility.
• Conduct yard checks.
• Operate the fuel truck when needed.
• Complete dock work as assigned.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
