About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL truck driver in Front Royal, Virginia, for a regional, solo delivery position. Drivers deliver food freight to Virginia, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Ohio, Connecticut, New York, Maine, Delaware, North Carolina, and New Jersey. The position uses sleeper tractors and 53-foot dry van or reefer trailers; freight is no-touch. The schedule is Sunday through Friday, with start times between 9:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. Ryder offers weekly pay averaging $1,595 or more, paid training, and a sign-on bonus paid in two installments. Trucks are described as well-maintained, safe, and 36 months old or newer, with 24/7 roadside maintenance and fueling at more than 800 nationwide maintenance locations. Drivers make safety decisions, and the company states that their jobs are protected when doing so.

Requirements

Be at least 21 years of age.
Pass a Ryder drug test.
Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years.
Pass a DOT physical.
Pass a Ryder road test.
Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
Have Class A verifiable experience in a tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months within the past 3 years, or 2 years within the last 5 years, or 5 years within the last 10 years.
Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.
Some positions may require additional screening, including employment and education verification, motor vehicle records checks, a road test, or customer badging or background requirements.

Hazmat endorsement preferred.

Comply with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards.
Maintain accurate records and logs.
Load or unload freight, or assist with loading or unloading if required by the customer.
Perform other duties as assigned.
