About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL Transfer Driver in Austin, Texas. The driver shuttles equipment between Ryder customer facilities, moving empty trailers with no freight handling. This is a local position with daily home time, scheduled Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM. Pay is $21.00 per hour, with weekly pay stated as $840 per week. Drivers receive 24/7 roadside maintenance support from Ryder-trained technicians, and service employees fuel trucks at Ryder maintenance facilities. Ryder also states that it will buy an owner-operator's truck to help facilitate a move to company employment.

Requirements

• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Pass a Ryder drug test, background check, and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years.
• Pass a DOT physical and Ryder road test.
• Provide an appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
• Have verifiable Class A experience in a tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months within the past 3 years, or 2 years within the last 5 years, or 5 years within the last 10 years.
• Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
• Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.
• Some assignments may require additional screening, employment and education verification, motor vehicle records checks, road tests, or customer badging or background requirements.

Responsibilities

• Safely drive a commercial vehicle while complying with safety requirements and DOT regulations.
• Shuttle equipment between Ryder customer facilities, including empty-trailer transfers.
• Comply with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
• Detect, eliminate, or minimize safety hazards.
• Maintain accurate records and logs.
• Participate in continuous training and provide customer service.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.
