About The Position
Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL Truck Driver in Louisville, Kentucky. The driver delivers solo to Indiana, Tennessee, and Kentucky and returns home daily. The position pays $27.58 per hour for 40–50 hours per week, with weekly pay, paid training, a quarterly tenure bonus, and a sign-on bonus paid in two installments. The schedule is Monday through Friday, starting at 5:00 AM, with no weekends. Drivers operate a day-cab tractor with a 48-foot flatbed trailer carrying touch freight (steel); loads are secured with straps, and tarping is required in wet weather. Ryder provides well-maintained trucks that are 36 months old or newer, 24/7 roadside maintenance, and access to fueling at more than 800 nationwide maintenance locations. The role requires a Class A CDL and qualifying verifiable tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle experience, along with passing Ryder’s drug test, background and motor vehicle checks, DOT physical, and road test. Drivers must comply with applicable laws and regulations, maintain accurate records and logs, identify and minimize safety hazards, and load or unload freight or assist with those tasks if required by the customer. Additional customer-specific screening may apply. Requirements
- Be at least 21 years of age.
- Pass a Ryder drug test.
- Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years.
- Pass a DOT physical.
- Pass a Ryder road test.
- Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
- Have verifiable Class A experience in a tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months within the past 3 years, or 2 years within the last 5 years, or 5 years within the last 10 years.
- Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
- Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.
Responsibilities
- Deliver solo to Indiana, Tennessee, and Kentucky, with a home-daily route.
- Comply with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
- Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards.
- Maintain accurate records and logs.
- Load or unload freight, or assist with loading or unloading, if required by the customer.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
