About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL truck driver in Glen Burnie, Maryland. The role delivers flooring materials as a solo driver to destinations in Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Delaware, with the driver returning home daily. The schedule is Monday through Friday with no weekends, and start times are between 5:00 AM and 6:30 AM. Drivers operate a day-cab tractor and may accept an automatic restriction. Trailers include 42-, 45-, and 53-foot dry vans, with occasional straight trucks. Freight is touch freight. Ryder provides training on the equipment needed for the job and paid training. Drivers use electric and manual pallet jacks and dollies. Trucks are maintained by Ryder, with 24/7 roadside maintenance and fueling available at more than 800 nationwide maintenance locations. Drivers earn weekly pay, with a weekly guarantee of $1,250 and advertised earnings of $1,350 or more per week. Solo mileage pay is $0.740 per mile for the first 90 days, solo stop pay is $19.89 per stop, and per diem pay is $64.50 per night for three nights per month. Route overnights are at a Ryder-booked hotel. Requirements

Be at least 21 years of age.
Pass a Ryder drug test.
Pass Ryder background and motor vehicle checks, including verification of drug and alcohol history from previous employers for the last three years.
Pass a DOT physical and Ryder road test.
Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
Have Class A verifiable experience in a tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months within the past 3 years, or 2 years within the last 5 years, or 5 years within the last 10 years.
Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.

Responsibilities

Ensure compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards.
Maintain accurate records and logs.
Load and unload freight, or assist with loading and unloading when required by the customer.
Perform other duties as assigned.
