About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL truck driver in Fort Wayne, Indiana. This is a local, home-daily driving role delivering solo within a 300-mile radius. The route uses a day-cab tractor and a 53-foot dry van, carrying no-touch auto-parts freight. Strong backing skills are required. Schedules are Monday through Friday or Tuesday through Saturday, with an AM or PM start time depending on the route bid. Drivers are paid weekly and receive paid training, a shutdown bonus, quarterly safety bonuses, and a sign-on bonus. Ryder provides well-maintained trucks that are 36 months old or newer, 24/7 roadside maintenance, and fueling at more than 800 nationwide maintenance locations. Drivers make safety decisions, and the company states that their jobs are protected.

Requirements

Be at least 21 years of age.
Pass a Ryder drug test, background check, motor vehicle check, and DOT physical.
Pass a Ryder road test.
Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
Have verifiable Class A tractor-trailer or comparable-vehicle experience meeting one of these alternatives: 9 months within the past 3 years, 2 years within the last 5 years, or 5 years within the last 10 years.
Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.
Undergo drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years.
Some assignments may require additional employment or education verification, motor vehicle records checks, road tests, customer badging, or customer background requirements.
Have strong backing skills.

Responsibilities

Comply with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
Detect, eliminate, or minimize safety hazards.
Maintain accurate records and logs.
Load or unload freight, or assist with loading and unloading when required by the customer.
Perform other duties as assigned.
